The most pressing division in America is no longer the racial divide from your parents’ generation. Nor is it the partisan gap that has consumed televisions during the U.S. presidential election cycle. Rather, the gravest threat to the American experiment involves the emergence of a new upper and lower class that are becoming increasingly alienated from each other.
From marriage rates to community life to work ethic, the behavior of the upper and lower classes diverges completely. And while mainstream America continues to revert to the norms of the lower class, the upper class lives in ever more secluded enclaves, oblivious to the growing gap in behavior. This puts the success of the American project at risk.
