Job Description

The American Enterprise Institute (AEI) seeks a program manager for its Values & Capitalism project, a project to promote AEI’s mission on college campuses with a strong emphasis on reaching out to evangelical campuses. AEI is a private, nonpartisan, not-for-profit institution dedicated to reseach and education on the issues of government, politics, economics, and social welfare.  Founded in 1943, AEI is home to some of America’s most accomplished public policy experts. AEI’s purpose is to serve leaders and the public through research and education on the most important issues of the day. AEI research is conducted through seven primary research divisions: Economics, Foreign and Defense Policy, Politics and Public Opinion, Education, Health, Energy, and the Environment and Society and Culture. It also works through several specialized outlets, such as the National Research Initiative (which sponsors research by university-based scholars), the AEI Press, the Enterprise Blog and The American, AEI’s online magazine.

The Values and Capitalism project, which explores the moral and material nature of a market economy, includes campus debates, campus speaking events, a faculty network, national conferences, and a book series.  These initiatives explain why free markets are beneficial and how this approach is consistent with traditional American and evangelical Christian values.

Job responsibilities for the position include the active daily and long-term management of all aspects of the project.  Tasks include, but are not limited to: strategizing ways to accomplish the project mission; implementing project strategy and reporting metrics to executives; supervising events; meeting with donors; engaging student leaders and faculty on campus; overseeing publicity and marketing activities across mediums; and producing a series of books and curriculum in conjunction with AEI scholars and the Values & Capitalism team.

Required Experience

This position requires entrepreneurial experience, preferably from the idea to the execution stage.  The position requires excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and leadership skills.  The ideal candidate would have experience with program management, marketing, and new media.   Applicants should have 3-6 years of experience and familiarity with the evangelical college community is strongly preferred.

Qualified applicants should submit their resume, cover letter, transcripts, a 500 word writing sample and a 500 word essay explaining an entrepreneurial success with their online application.
