The Values & Capitalism Young Scholar Award program seeks to foster high-quality academic research and writing by awarding $5,000 scholarships to up to six undergraduate students—for rising juniors or seniors—studying public policy or economics. Students are awarded scholarships for demonstrating significant promise in their field of research and a commitment to AEI’s mission of expanding liberty, increasing individual opportunity, and strengthening free enterprise.
With the guidance of a faculty advisor, selected students will pursue original research on an issue of public policy, economics, or political theory throughout the 2019-2020 academic year. In April 2020, Young Scholars will travel to D.C. to defend their work before panels of experts, and their final projects will be published on the Values & Capitalism website.
Past V&C Young Scholars have submitted proposals on a variety of different topics, including: the benefits cliff and labor supply; professionalization effects on the provision of constituent service; mandates as corrective policy instruments in agriculture; economic growth and environmental sustainability; constitutional durability; and how a passive tax system exacerbates fiscal illusion. You can read more about the most recent Young Scholar projects here.
Applications will be accepted until July 15th. Click here for more information.
