Common Good #2 – Robert Doar

In this edition of “Common Good” we are joined by Robert Doar, the Morgridge Fellow in Poverty Studies at the American Enterprise Institute where he studies and evaluates how free enterprise and improved federal policies and programs can reduce poverty and provide opportunities for vulnerable Americans. Before joining AEI, Doar was commissioner of New York City’s Human Resources Administration where he administered 12 public assistance programs for the largest local social services agency in the United States.

We discuss the lessons that he learned during his time in New York City—and the incredible successes that he had, his perspective on poverty alleviation, and even a little college basketball.

Also on the show is Brad Wassink, the manager of AEI’s new Program on Human Flourishing. Brad gives us a peek into the exciting new work that AEI is doing on the topics of poverty, human well-being, and happiness.
