On October 25-26, Cedarville University hosted the American Dream conference. Speakers and students explored the morality of free enterprise, how to think Biblically about the economy and the deficit, and many other topics.

We were excited to bring two AEI speakers to the American Dream conference, and to interact with so many speakers who have been valuable voices at Values & Capitalism events in the past.
Thursday’s opening dinner featured remarks by Barry James, the president of James Investment Research. Friday morning’s sessions included a discussion with
Jay Richards of the Discovery Institute’s Center of Wealth, Poverty, and Morality, and
Ron Sider of Evangelicals for Social Action. More than 400 students, faculty, and area guests gathered at Cedarville for this conference.

Arthur Brooks spoke on his book, “
The Road to Freedom,” which makes the moral case for free enterprise. And in the afternoon, AEI’s Andrew Biggs spoke on
social security—its past, its present and a vision for its future. Finally, D.C. Innes of The King’s College and Lisa Sharon Harper of Sojourners spoke on their book, “
Left, Right & Christ: Evangelical Faith in Politics.”

Thanks to the faculty at Cedarville University for hosting such an engaging, informative event. And thanks to the students of Omicron Mu Epsilon, Cedarville’s free-market organization, for your work during this conference.
We will post video of the events as soon as it is made available. Visit the
Cedarville University website for more information.
